Sites to visit: Dushanbe, Hissor, Ramit, Iskanderkul, Seven Lakes, Penjakent
Day 1: Dushabe - Hissor - Dushanbe
Arrive to Dushanbe and drive to Hisor Fort, located about 35 km from capital city. It was constructed in VII-XVII centuries and was used as a residential place for Emir of Bukhara. Hisor fort is situated on the hill and protected with strong, thick walls. There are also some holes for guns and barrels. There are remains of a pool, a garden, a caravanserai and very busy market with shops. Except ruins, there are other historical sites in Hisor. One of them is reconstucted "Madrasa I Kuhna" mosque, which serves as a new school of 16th -17th centuries. Another is Mausoleum of "Mahdumi Azam" (16th century). After excursion drive back to Dushanbe and enjoy lunch. Take an excursion to Botanical garden. Then have a panorama view to the capital city at Victory Park. Night in a hotel.
Day 2: Dushanbe - Ramit - Dushanbe
A day tour to "Ramit" Natural Reserve will give you unforgettable feelings. Ramit was founded in 1959 during the soviet time. It is situated 80km from capital and in the gorge with the same name. It is also located near the city Vahdat. The elevation varies between 1176 to 3195, on the slopes Hissar Range. There is a mountain trout in the river Ramit. The reserve is in rich of many medicinal plants. In addition, there are goats, wild boars, and other species of animals and birds. The significant success of the reserve is that there is considerably important population of Bukhara Deer kept. Overnight in Dushanbe.
Day 3: Dushanbe - Iskanderkul Lake
In the morning, depart to Iskanderkul Lake in the Fann Mountains. It is located on the altitude of 2 255 m. the lake and its surrounding is one of the beautiful in Central Asia. You will travel via pass Anzob, passing 3 372 meters above sea level. At the lake, you will enjoy the walk on the beach and take a short hike to a waterfall (40min). Tajikistan is proud of rich water reserves. It takes the second place in the CIS countries and the first place in Central Asia for the deposit of water. There are 1000 river, 2000lakes and 8000 glaciers in the territory. Overnight in a homestay.
Day 4: Iskanderkul Lake
Today is devoted to explore the surrounding of Iskanderkul Lake and Fann Mountains. You have enough time for hiking and trekking. Fann Mountains is also popular as "Kuhistan" from the old times. In translation from Farsi, it means "Mountainous Country". There are more than 30 small and big lake in its small territory. Nowadays it is getting popular as a hike and weekend destination among locals. The wildlife is unique and diverse. The surrounding will make you surprise and enjoy the pure air and peaceful nature. Stay in a homestay.
Day 5: Iskanderkul Lake - Seven Lakes
Today's drives goes among the Fannsky Gory (Fann Mountains). The way takes Shahriston Pass, reaching 3 378 meters above sea level. The Fann Mountains and the surrounding of Seven Lakes is one of the famous hiking areas in Central Asia. Drive to Seven Lakes(Marquzor Lakes), which is 60 km from Penjakent. Take a short hike and discover seven lakes lying on various elevation and have different colors. Furthermore, you can meet locals and get acquainted with their culture an life. Overnight in a homestay.
Day 6: Seven Lakes - Penjakent
Today depart to Penjakent ("five villages"), which is situated near the Khujant in the Valley of Zarevshan River. The history of the city started in 5th-8th century AD. During that time, Panjakent was a remarkable craft and cultural center of Sogd. Because of this reason sometimes it was called "Central Asian Pompeii". In the territory of old Penjakent there were a palace, two temples, bazaars, rich dwelling houses decorated with numerous paintings, wooden and clay statues of ancient gods. Surprisingly the remains were found in XX century. However, nowadays there are remains available to see: dwelling houses and office buildings, the citadel with the palace, the house of artisans, and fire worshiper's church. You will spend night in a hotel.
Day 7: Jartepo border
After breakfast, drive to Tajik-Uzbek Border.
